180 Years of Hunting / Fishing Michigan.

Unread postby Singing Bridge » Sun Sep 06, 2020 2:31 am

We have family pics going back to pre-Civil War. This pic is of my grandfather (top left) and his brothers, along with my great grandfather (top right). This was on Shawl island in northern Lake Huron, they owned a dozen islands in that area. This pic shows them building the “Effie” by hand, used for hauling freight / mail and for commercial fishing.

Circa 1890’s

I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

These men made sure their families were well practiced and informed in the arts of hunting and fishing. I owe them a lot.

I remember at the start of my deer hunting career, my grandfather travelling between our family deer camps to check in, offer advice... outside of family, hunting and fishing were more important than anything else to them and I still have that within me.
