Seen that one. It's got a ton of incorrect data.
Texas, miss, and Louisiana have much more then it says it does.
So I'm wondering if the rest of the data is incorrect or just hasn't been up dated

Pa has an unreal amount along with Wyoming. Iowa, Texas and Nebraska have some of the lowest amounts in the country.

That is possible. It's pretty hard to come across that info all nicely layed out on a spread sheet. I remember one of the RMEF magazines having a list inside the back cover once but can't confirm if that was accurate either.

Have you checked each states department of natural resources website? Iowa has one of the lowest public lands in the US.

Of the 3 you listed, according the google Ohio has the most public land at over 700,000 acres. Illinois has around 350k, Iowa at 450k. But I don’t know how much of that is open to hunting. Just some rough #s.

That would be my guess as far as ranking off the top of my head. Iowa and Illinois arent exactly known for abundant public hunting. Illinois doesnt seem to be one of the popular public land diy destinations and that may be why compared with a pretty high tag cost

Re: Public land acre amounts
I don’t know any facts statistically but UP has an immense amount of county, state, Mfl and commercial land. Deer density is on the rise without doubt. I was up there last week for a few sits with a buddy and between the two of us we saw 5 bucks in 2 days time. Not booners, but I did see probably 100”. Not to mention all the does. I will be back there for a 5 day hunt just before gun opens up Nov 15th. Michigan is allowing doe permits for fun this year as a side note.

Re: Public land acre amounts
Minnesota has over 12 million acres of public land. 24% of all the land, thought I had read that percent is the most of any state, not sure about total acres.

Re: Public land acre amounts
I’d be curious to know the size of each public access land parcels too. For example, is Iowa a bunch of small 100 acre parcels vs Ohio that has 10,000 acre parcels. Thst could be a determining factor as to where to invest in an out of state hunt.
