Success in the swamp ( Louisiana public land )
My older brother connected on a nice 8 point in the swamp on January 25th.
We got the buck on camera. We knew he was headed into bedding being that he was coming from the high ground at 4:30am and headed back into the bottom/swamp.
We knew bucks could possibly be coming back into bed later being that the rut was cranking up. My camera had shown us that the bigger bucks were moving. We had a few days to get in there. The first day we went in and made a sit in locations we had been before with intentions of scouting after the hunt to pin point bedding.
To make a long story short and sweet. We made 4 - 5 strategic sits in there. We had two of our good friends with us and they are known killers also. We all made strategic plays and my brother ended up connecting. That morning my brother and both of my buddies had all three saw that deer from the tree. How awesome is that.
After the shot we backed out and 4 hours later went in for the recovery. Blood was spotty and we were about to head back in. Decided to circle back toward shot location from last blood on the way out just in case he doubled back and he was piled up about 80 yards away. It was an awesome day!!

Congrats! All the respect to the southern guys hunting snake, skeeter, and reptile infested swamps. I'll take bears any day over that stuff!

Living and hunting Louisiana myself I know how difficult it can be. Congrats on your buck!! Also to the one commenting about bears over snakes and gators. Louisiana has 30k black bears too. We just can’t hunt them”yet”
