When i first stumbled upon this site a few years ago this was one of the first threads that i read. Having never even looked at a topo map before coming here i found this extremely helpful

Good video, if you all want to learn more and how the deer use these topo features, try reading "Mapping Trophy Bucks" by Brad Herndon, you can pick it up used on ebay for a few dollars, the book offers some great tips on using topo maps for scouting..

So this was a cool little video. It really helped me with terms I've heard but didn't know the meaning of, like draws, saddles, etc.

As i started looking at other suggested videos, it led me to some on using maps and compasses, another good subject to study up on for the beginner.
