Holy Crap??? I've found party balloons in a rubbed up area w/ some beds. Never thought of your idea of some feature in the area making a downdraft. Brilliant!

I’ve found the same thing. Found a balloon last weekend in the bedroom of one of the bucks I killed last fall. I never gave it much thought, but you may be on to something.

Good observation..I should go to the dollar store and buy some helium balloons. Go out to a big chunk of public and release them. Then go find where they fell. Outside the box scouting

It’s funny because I found another one two weeks ago in a prime bedding area. I have also noticed this and do think there is something to the air current thing. Some areas funnel wind to specific spots and that is the perfect place for a mature buck to bed.

I thought this thread is pretty interesting

and then the light bulb went off in the early days of learning to hunt I noticed seeing balloons on the ground when I was hunting
but I didn't know any better to what it meant, this is a super cool observation

too bad helium balloons can't be control and you follow them around to find where those wind currents go

it's like a big piece of milkweed out of control

I have a few choice words for people who litter up the world with balloon releases.
The connection to good buck bedding is pretty cool to know about. But it's still just litter in my eyes.

Interesting... Cause I notice a lot of balloons in bedding areas, but never really thought about it.

I'm going to have to develop a cheap featherweight GPS chip you can attach to balloons and track on your OnX app. I'd sell them to you guys cheap, as long you don't hunt near me.

This is a pretty cool phenomenon that I'll have to keep an eye out for.

Dang, me too! I was like, what the heck is this, from farther away, but lo and behold, it was a mylar balloon. Good theory on the why.

Probably, but it's probably not as far off as it seems. As for the ethics? It's just a science experiment. :D

That's wild! Just another thing I'll be looking out for today. Beds, trails, rubs, and balloons.

Always learning
