I got some of those black head nets from Walmart for being in the woods during bug times. You can see fine and it keeps the critters outta yer nose and such.

Will use thermacell when necessary and "Repel" brand bug WIPES most of the time. Have the wipes or spray available most of the time.

Those deer fly patches look interesting.

They definitely work at that time of the year. The patches get loaded with them.

This is the best when they’re thicker than thick.

But these work well on deer flies in July

I use blue painters tape and tanglefoot smeared on it stuck to my hat. Morning walks around the house usually catch 5 plus deer flies a day. One container will last a long time and you can tape and cover your whole hat instead of strips.

I use a dryer sheet. Stick it up under my ball cap. Keeps those buggers away from your face.

Deep Woods and Gordon's permethrin. I'll use a head net if it gets bad. I'll use this during season too and just play the wind the best I can. I've had my hand chewed to bits during a morning sit once using scentless bug spray and will never do that again. Full scented Deep Woods does the trick, and I'd rather just play my chances.
On my deathbed, I will receive total consciousness. So I have that going for me, which is nice!

I should put a patch on the back of my neck instead of my cap. That’s where the deer flies nail me in the summer when mountain biking.

That video made me a believer. 8-)

The patch caught three. The other 2,000 nailed me good. Might have to cover my entire head/neck area.

Tried it both ways. They like my neck so figured lower was better. Got none up high.

Wet one of those cooling towels and drape it over the back of your neck. Gives you a little bit more protection, helps keep you cool and works good for swatting them if they are real bad.

Only bug that drives me crazy are those small biting gnats. They love the face for some reason. Jackson Marsh told me to try vanilla extract and it worked great. Thankfully I have only experienced them in the hills of Iowa so far. Once every four years isn’t so bad.

Come on up north. That'll toughen you up with bugs!

Lol. Further south you go the bigger/worse the bugs get.

Thought this was common knowledge.

I go through 3 cans of Sawyer Permathin in the spring and summer.
Keep a few bottles of unscented repel.

And I still get bit quite a bit on my face and hands
