Cam issues 2021
Yesterday I went and put out 2 cameras.
Well today I decided I'd try to put out more.
Upon reaching into 3 cams somehow they were corroded and I switched to new dg batteries no go. Switched to brand new Duracell no go.
Tried cleaning with toothbrush and new batteries no go.
I usually lose only one cam a year all 3 of these look shot.
One a Bushnell and other 2 are cheap chinamarts.
One of my cams is like a mile back a few hours from home.
So somehow I've gone from 7 cameras to 3 this year.
Looks like I'm gonna need to buy more.
Anyone else going through the camapocolypse?
Hmm bad luck or Might just be today for some reason its been one of those days.

To be fair they are 2-4 years old and were like 30.00 each in truth i think I got my money out of them.
Just bought 2 new ones a few min ago from the local store.
Try to get another one next week.

Totally agree. So far this year two corrupted memory cards and one cell cam that wants to pick up every wind swaying vegetation or sun heat/shadow effect.

Re: Cam issues 2021
Im dreading putting batteries in my cams to see how many will not work this year. Or even worse find out they don't work in a few months after sitting in a new spot.

Take a short walk and remove the vegetation
I don't have any out yet, but had issues while testing them. I hope to have everything resolved in a few days.

Re: Cam issues 2021
How many cams do you guys run.
I've always tried to have 5-7 one on each wma or if its a big wma 3 or so. At times I've put 7 in a 8000 acre piece.
My goal isn't to learn patterns just learn if something decent is in that area.
After just buying 2 cams this year I have only 5.
How much should I rotating area to area every 2-3 weeks leading upto season?
By this I should be able to check 15 or so areas by season not alot I know but hopefully it will put me on a few shooters.
A few spots -areas that I hunt regardless and never put cams in.
But I do like trying to locate shooters in areas I've not hunted.

Always try to remember to take batteries out at end of season to avoid corrosion.
Store them in a safe dry place and many will last for years .

Thread title gives me anxiety…..
Fingers crossed but I’ve had good luck the last two years with cams. Have settled in on Exodus as my private land cams and wild game innovations as my public.

Re: Cam issues 2021
Yeah I left the batteries in too long.
Being in the house i didnt think it would be a issue.
Just bought another 2 cams today.
I don't think I ever bought 4 in a year and now I bought 4 in like a week.

Re: Cam issues 2021
I've had that happen on Bushnell cams. The batteries get that green and you need to clean up the contacts and it works, usually. If not, I've found those get the same green corrosion on the connection between the battery pack and the camera. If you clean it, it works again. You just need to take the screws out, open up the cam guts and take a look. Gently using a pencil eraser works well to clean that.

Re: Cam issues 2021
Get some grease on the gaskets as soon as you buy them. This has extended the life of my cheap cams. Don’t forget to put it on the battery tray gasket.
I’ve got my 12 or so spread quite wide right now just trying to find something. I’m going to consolidate into just a few locations once I find something worth diving in for.
Last year I found I learned way more about travel by putting more in a smaller parcel. Not spread so thin.
