Did some scouting today

Unread postby Sailfish_WC » Mon Nov 07, 2022 10:04 am

A sunny 87 degrees. Archery will kick off in about 7 weeks just wanted to see what’s new after the burn last year.
Thick palmettos, scrub oak, cypress heads and an oak hammock or two was the days outing.
The area I called the doe area i have always kicked up deer there every single time except this year :-( So I went to a “new”area from there and saw two small bucks.
They spooked from something else. I watched where they ran and found a small scrape.

Still saw or spooked no does there either

Headed off in another direction.
On a whim I went to an area I’d never think of going to.
Found another scrape and a rub. It would be near impossible to hunt because it’s in a field of palmettos with no trees and a ground blind wouldn’t work. Maybe a spot ans stalk but walking through palmettos you’re likely not gonna sneak up on your deaf gma. (Somehow the first scrape pic is showing up again. Can’t fix it on my phone)

Walked through a small oak hammock nearby and the acorns were just raining down. This ‘new’ area def has wildlife but also hogs. Lots of hog sign near the hammock. The deer don’t like them much. But def deer were around.
Found 3 beds around a burnt tree

I wish I had brought my extra cameras. I woulda hung them in the area just to see what’s up. Could check them in a month and see

Anyways that was the day.
