Re: New 53acre purchase
Congrats!
I don’t know that you need to upgrade your tractor. Though that thing is kind of a lil play toy what’s that saying? Build a shed or buy a tractor and you’ll always wish you went bigger?
What do you want to do with the tractor? Food plots? I screw around a bit and have had some crappy and very good results.
If you are talking plots I would have a forestry mulcher come in and go to town where you want them. Then you can use a broadcast spreader and sprayer that mount on an atv. I’ve got a 45 hp tractor. I don’t use it much. If I’m planting I have an old quad. I like to spray the area, wait a week or two, spread seed and fertilizer by hand or atv, then go mow the dead stuff with tractor and take atv in to spray again, killing off anything that was beneath the tall weeds. I try to time it right before a rain. The seeds will germinate under the thatch and pop thru.
The first year you wouldn’t have a thatch.perhaps plant buckwheat heavy and seed into it/also kill it later.
Here I would load it up with rye it makes a nice thatch the following yr for me. I just let it seed out and mow it then it grows back with whatever else I mix in.
When I plow with the tractor and plant.. it’s weeds galore.
Sounds like you might have to take some oaks down. Red oak saw logs? Portable sawmill? Nothing like lumber from your own hard work.
Anyhow after all that all I mean to say is unless you’re planning on getting big timber out I wouldn’t worry so much about tractor size.

We live on a lake, & lake lots are small. So cute it is~
Good info -thanks!
Looking to plant the logging strips/roads in specific areas 1st (already to go on that).
Maybe a plot or two over time...
Get some mountain laurel in around a bedding area.
Cut a water hole in.
Some stumping & rock walls.
Timber frame pole barn in a few years...
We are starting out with a used 43' travel trailer to help temper my wife
She DOES NOT Want to leave the lake.
I told her - congical visits

From Mini to Maxi tractor!
Closing on land in less than 2 weeks...
Then mud season, what a teaser.
I'm told it's tough to get in before the end of April. They don't know that I have mud running through my veins.
