Its Friday the 31st. Another month and the excitement will definitely grow as it is almost time to hunt. Where has the time gone? Seems not that long ago that we were placing stands and hauling in empty logs to the bait stations.

I got a pleasant surprise from my oldest son Hunter, he took the week off from work to come up and spend the week at bear camp. Will be very nice to have him up there. He loves the woods and exploring.

Tomorrow I will be heading up to bait stands and get things ready for the season. Starting to see some better bears visiting the baits. Just hope one sticks around for the harvest. Can't wait to spend a day in the woods with myself and the animals. Love this time of year.

Good friend and owner to Northern Wisconsin Outfitters Robert Haas.... talking the other day around his camp fire he told me a bear each night for the last week would open up his truck door and sit in his truck, told him to get some pictures, Robert sent me these this morning, ironically there is some maple syrup in the truck but he has not touched it

Big big bear shows at my deer food plot, I have 5 different bears now that come and go on this plot, hope the bear food plot that I seeded last week at my bear bait gets this much attention. Image

This is going to be a very anticipated and interesting week, this is the week that traditionally the Ghost Bear shows up, but there are a few things that might throw a wrench in the monster bear showing up, first off the wolves have been back all summer long, the apple crop on the property is super poor and the biggest issue is the land owner moved into his cabin for the summer, It doesnt seem to bother all the other bears, theres been a lot of activity "noise, chainsaw, voices etc" on the property and I do not know if Ghost will tolerate it. Brian was up this past week and baited, he said the bear food plot that I seeded is starting to grow.

In the video attached there is a nice 300# boar that is a regular visitor, but the closer the season gets his daytime visits are slipping into after dark visits. The Sow with her now one cub looking down my entrance trail. I have noticed the blueberry and other berry crops have dried up, the acorn crop is very spotty, the wild apple crop is poor. Once again I am hoping the Ghost bear shows up even if its for a couple days, just so I know that he is still roaming these big woods of Northern Wisconsin.

One month till season starts. Mike and I have been seeing different boars coming into bait sites. Hopefully they stick around and keep visiting. Baiting will get more frequent now that the season is approaching. It seems like it is picking up and as Mike mentioned, the natural food sources are starting to fade away.

I am not totally convinced that this is the Ghost bear but it is a huge mature bear, watch till the end of the video when he turns broadside and shows his weight. I was very excited to see this bear until reviewing other clips that were on the trail camera  . SOOOOOOOO what do you do when the land owners show up on camera more times than you would like to see, at your bait station (like 3 people) just to check things out? The answer.....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING This bear showed up on Aug 4th the same day as when the land owners were there, the bear is actually sniffing where there owners walked. Watch the next video on the next page.

Wonder why cubs and fawns continue to disappear in the North? I'm not pointing fingers or anything. This 4 year old female collared wolf thinks she owns this bait station, she waits until a bear opens it up and then chases them away. I still have no idea why the video downloads into fast motion

I had to laugh while reviewing my trail cam photos & videos. The female wolf intimidates the younger bears, all summer long she has been chasing off the sows with cubs and young bears like in the video above Until she meets this big mature boar. In the first picture the big boar is startled by this wolf and runs but if you pay attention to the times on the photos & videos he stops (off camera) and gathers his thoughts, turns around and chases off Miss wolf.

After chasing off Miss wolf... looks like he wasnt going to let anyone push him around or give up his bait station... looks like he also has a itchy but  this big bear slept off and on for 5 hrs before leaving.

I want to give you guys a trail camera tip, if you want to get a better visual during darkness on your trail camera footage use two trail cameras on the same tree, one up high and one low.... watch in the video when the bear moves he triggers the second camera, watch it light the whole area up for a better video of that bear.

So I have this awesome deer food plot that I keep getting bears on camera on... so I decided to place a bear bait just inside the woodline, hunter would have about a 45 yard shot with a rifle. I'm trying to draw that 400lb plus big bear away from the Ghost bait (1/2 mile away) he is nocturnal, comes to the bait on an average time of 9:15pm each night. I just think there is to much activity from the cabin owners, and its making that bear feel a little uncomfortable. they plan on being there all summer long. My deer food plot is in a remote area away from any human activity, so far in 3 days its been working, I have multiple bears hitting the bait including this other nice big boar during daylight too. Hoping to draw that bigger bear in, time will tell, season is almost here  https://youtu.be/UuE7a7cpE0c
