Wow that was a strange one, I wonder how high up he was, seems like I would have been yelling or potentially drawing once the bear decided to climb the tree and not wait for its paw to land in my lap or for it to take a bite out of my back.

Note to self, shoot bear before it climbs tree,

I would have been yelling as soon as he got to the base of the tree.

No doubt. Oddly enough, it doesn’t seem like the bear was aggressive, otherwise the guy would have been tore to shreds. But even a curious bear is a dangerous one.

That’s crazy. Sit still and wait till the bear bites? :?

I would have been jumped up and started yelling at the bear as soon as it started climbing. Can almost guarantee it would have retreated. If not it’s then time to go into self defense mode. That experience would likely cause me to at least carry a can of bear spray in the future. I never have while hunting deer but have carried spray while bear hunting. Probably not a bad idea to always carry in bear country. I don’t think anybody wants to use a lethal means to kill a curious bear.

Wow. This is why both parties agree to a safe word before the activities start.

He must have smelled like food or a lady bear.

Something along these lines usually happens every 3 to 4 years in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin also don't have any fatal attacks on record, so I would sit unarmed in a northern wi tree stand any day over walking any city streets.

Glad he's gonna be ok

It’s easy to say would have done this would have done that but things happen fast in the bear world. Most on here have seen a few videos of where a bear climbs the same tree as where the hunter is sitting in, that’s done in seconds, most hunter’s will freeze and not knowing what to do. Happy it ended well for this young man. Wonder if he will walk to his stand in the dark or wait until daylight now lol

I would call you to bring more bait to draw the bear back out of the tree.

I wish I could read the story but I can't even find it among all the other garbage and ads on the page.
