Locator calls?

Unread postby Mossberg90MN » Tue Sep 10, 2019 4:04 am

Anyone know if locator calls work in the fall for gobblers?

Going out for the first time this Fall, curious if I can roost a gobbler using locator calls or find them mid day? Probably not but thought I would ask.

I have seen it work, but typically you're looking at a group of gobblers if they will sound off. Depending on how skittish your birds are, a gobble would be your best bet.

I know this is a late response but one morning at sunrise a pack of coyotes went off in a valley. Had a flock of gobblers go off on a ridge near me. Unfortunately I was never able to find them, but they did infact gobble to the coyote howls.

I think... like most things turkey... the combination has to be just right for it to work.
