Remington 870 Turkey Choke/Load

Unread postby peteherbst » Mon Jun 07, 2021 4:14 am

Anyone running anything special in their 870 as far as choke/load combo? Thinking of switching to TSS next year after a couple spooking just out of range.

I don’t use anything special, just a Hevi-13 choke with 3” Hevi Shot, 2 oz., #7.

I've been using the Remington super full turkey choke for probably 20 years. With the 3" hevi shot magnum blend shells I've taken several gobblers around 60 yds.
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison. Genesis 27:3

I use a cheap synthetic stock 870 that has killed hundreds of squirrels and 6-8 turkeys, give or take take since I have not kept track. I have used a few different shotguns throughout the years. I use a Carlson choke tube and #5 3” Winchester double x. I hardly ever miss a turkey with that setup. $10 dollar shells ain’t for me. To each their own though, it’s a personal choice. Good luck next year.
