Hunting Deer and Turkey together...

Unread postby PaulFWI » Fri Apr 22, 2022 2:17 pm

In the fall.

The seasons overlap. The terrain overlaps. The tactics overlap. With a crossbow, you can take either.

Anyone doing this?

I actually bought a turkey tag after having two gobblers walk by me during the season last year, and never saw another after buying the tag.

I keep a call with me and have shot a couple birds in the fall while bowhunting. But not something I really take into account, just try to be ready if an opportunity presents itself.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

I killed one with a bow last October incidentally while deer hunting. We get two free archery tags with our deer tags in Missouri.

I decided that this was a terrible idea in practice. Tactics, terrain, etc. far too different.

Turkey as a target of opportunity while deer hunting, maybe (but it's quite unlikely IMO).

I probably had a lot of people laughing at me over this one, rightly.
