I’m sorry you lost your bull man, that stinks. The pictures are great. Thanks for posting about this hunt. Best of luck with the rest of your hunting season.

Re: Colorado 2020 elk archery hunt
Losing the bull stinks but I’m not sure what else we could have done. The first 200 yds blood was spotty. Then we were following tracks and grid searching.
Last night I couldn’t sleep so I went on line to study elk anatomy more to try to understand what happened. All I can figure is liver hit and the cavity was still filling which is why blood was spotty and then he got bumped before he could bed.
It’s sad but it’s part of hunting.
Still not happy about it though

The knee was pretty good. The lungs struggled a couple times. My wife is probably going to make me see the doc for a scope to check for cancer

Don’t worry about the lungs. I live here and still struggle in the high country. After a while you get used to it.

Temps in the low 50s
Rain at night
Most sign is in heavy timber
Hiked 4 miles
Day 4- opener
Had 3 bulls bugle. 2 responded to calls
Messed up by another Hunter not playing the wind
Evening foiled by the same
