It’s North of iron river, tough sledding eh?

Yes, it will be tough. it is wolf and moose country up there . There are deer but it is hard hunting. There is so much public land too. Make sure you have a map and 2 compasses and a GPS might help. If you are close to a good river, I would follow that till you see deer sign.

I’m so bummed out to close this thread like this. I was really low today. I had spent an hour or so cyber scouting everything and was really excited about an adventure and an out of state challenge.

My army friend tested Covid positive yesterday and he said he’s not going to camp this year. I don’t blame him, I wouldn’t be staying in a small cabin for multiple days with other older hunters and my dad knowing I was Covid positive and running a 102 fever.

It’s a major letdown. I even went into a small amount of belittling my buddy the way old army veterans do. I called him a puny weakling. I told him to rub a little toughness on it and soldier on!

In the end, It didn’t work he’s still got Covid, he’s still pulling the plug. Maybe next year if it lines up again.

It’s part of a deer season though, we have to keep grinding, changing plans and hunting to get the results we want.

So my advice for myself is the same I was poking at him...

Soldier On!

That's a bummer, sorry to hear it. Crappy timing of things! I hope your buddy recovers quick.
Bummer of a birthmark, Hal.

A few years ago, I had an invite to go join a deer/bear camp in New York from someone I met on a forum. Drove the 14 hours out there from Iowa and had a blast, even though I pierced a buck through the loins with the 7MM Rem Mag and did not recover it. Very interesting hanging around camp at the end of the day, enjoyed the comradery. Hope you have a great time.

I know the country well. Lot of deer. I am in Iron County west of town. Always willing to share Intel. Go this year.
